Winners of Startup Weekend KL 2011!!
We had a great Startup Weekend last weekend in UniRazak CapSquare!!
66 participants attended the entire session and they were divided into 10 groups. On Friday night, more than 20 ideas were pitched and 9 ideas were voted as top ideas. And one new idea was brought up during the group forming session. The participants worked really hard and one group even didn’t sleep on Friday night. Really touched by their spirit!
We had 11 mentors and judges from different industries participating and it made a huge difference to the participants. Also in attendance was Trent Munday (who was the winner of Startup Weekend Bangalore 2010 and co-founder of Social Shout). Oh yes, we also had Karamjit Singh as an observer!
On Sunday night, after 10 presentations judges deliberated and choose winners and they were:

I been through a hard life to maintain my studied because of my broken family. But because of that I am stronger and independent in handling problems. Because of how I am bring up, I am more determined than others and I have more willpower to make things done. The most important thing is the start. I hope i’ll get this opportunity to make mine.” (From Francis Lee Kian Han)
“I need to and deserve to win the tickets to startup weekend KL because of a couple of reasons. 1- i need to scale my business idea to greater height through a channel as reputable as startup weekend, where i can find potential people whom i need as partner in areas i can excel less in and also make use of the resources i can get from there. 2- I would also like to meet and network with the other aspiring business-minded youth because by gathering together and constantly exchanging thoughts and ideas can we constantly improve and innovate. 3-I would like to see to what extend a startup can be built within 54 hours” (From John Lai)
